The cast has been selected for the 2010 middle school play which will be held on Friday March 19th, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The cast members are Beth Teusch, Allison Higgins, Kate Larson, Stacy Mears, Morgan Bennett, Michael VonStein, Anna Kozal, Annie Palmer, Glen Clark, David Petersen, Westley Long, Parker Willis, Noah Eberle, Daniel Neal, Karter Ruzicka, Conner Wilkins, Jamie Theulen, Danielle Johnson, Spencer Wiggins, Molly Hoskins, and Conner Groves.
The play, entitled “Watch this Space”, spins characters from Star Trek and Star Wars together into a tale of good versus evil.
The 8th graders at JSMS are challenged each year to match their highest 7th grade quarter of AR points at 80% comprehension or higher. Thirty-four students accomplished this and were treated to puppy chow and a ride to the top of the Bell Tower on a beautiful Friday. Congratulations to all of the students who earned this. The 2nd quarter challenge is to earn 5 more AR points than they did in the first quarter at 80% comprehension or higher.
The students in the literature classes at JSMS are enjoying the new electronic dictionaries to look up unknown words as they are reading. The Jefferson Does generously purchased five of the dictionaries to use in Mrs. Raney's classes. Thank you so much!
JSMS students love to go on the 1st Semester Bonus Trip to the Seven Oaks Ski Lodge near Boone. The day is spent tubing down the gigantic hill over and over again. Some kids try skiing for the first time and instructors are available to give lessons. After they pass the bunny hill, it's all downhill from there! The students in grades 6-8 earn this trip through their good behavior and completing assignments. The Ram Rock Cafe is the behavior incentive program at JSMS and students need $7.00 in their accounts to participate. It is always a great time!
