Fifty children and their families attended the Reading All Around family night on Monday, March 27th at Jefferson Elementary. As the Cat in the Hat read to the preschoolers, their parents learned about the importance of reading to their children. The families moved through three centers having fun with reding readiness activities. Each child attending received a bag containing a book and other readiness materials. The evening concluded with a meal that they enjoyed together as families. The evening was organized and implemented by the early literacy team of Maurita Aubrey, Teri Clark, Ginny Destival, Carla Haupert, Denise Kennedy, Julie Neal, Annette Nees, Pam Mentzer, Teresa Skalla, and Tom Yepsen. It was sponsored by the Jefferson-Scranton School Foundation, and the Jefferson-Scranton PSC, with a donation from Fareway.
